After the completion of the traditional Bhai Tika and Bhai Puja, Komal and her sister performed ‘Didi Bahini Puja’. The puja is a little diviation from the male-dominated tradition of Tihar. Although brothers offer tika to their Bhai Tika, the puja are exclusively done to the brothers by sisters.
Komal is rebel by nature and she had be highly criticized for going out of the traditional frame-work of Teej songs. Although she might seem unfit to the current tradition, she is empowering women in the Nepali society by liberating them from the traditional male-dominated culture.
